Surf Report – 7/11/11

The last trip of the Sumatran surfing season on the Nomad has finished in quite a different fashion to the rest of our season. With a very sleepy Indian ocean for the majority of the trip finding our usual tasting platter of waves became almost impossible.

The Group of super cool regular Sand Groupers led by Gary Bennett still made the most of every moment up here and had little trouble keeping themselves entertained. With one day even getting dedicated to an adventure to the traditional Mentawai tribes on Siberut where we experienced the local dances, food and traditional Mentawai life style.

Although having a tough time with the swell I was super surprised to hear at the end of the trip that we had still surfed 12 of the 14 days and definitely the best waves in the island chain.
The Nomad is currently at Resort Latitude Zero to begin a busy maintenance schedule and undergo a stack of improvements for 2012.
Enjoy the photos from a flat Indian ocean.
