Throughout early May Nomad had a short break to allow us to put some elbow grease into the old girl and polish her up. We are proud to say that the she is now looking better than ever!

The first crew to enjoy our labour was a bunch of bodyboarding mates from Victoria. They were given a warm welcoming of ice cold Bintangs and a tour of their sparkling new home for the trip- KM Nomad. A dream crossing and an amazing sunset on our way out was followed by light winds and good conditions on our first day.

As we had our eye’s set on a couple waves a little way down the coast we put in the miles early. This paid off as we found ourselves being the only boat in the channel and consistent glassy waves.

Happy hour fishing sessions were popular for the Vicco boys- not much luck this trip but we still snagged a few keepers for fresh sushimi and the BBQ. The boys also brought along a cricket bat and skills to match. The cricket bat earned it’s keep one night with a beach visit for an epic cricket game, fire works and a bonfire. And despite the boys best efforts to drain the Nomad of all its amber ale we had them covered.

We sailed the length of the Mentawai Islands for this trip with a particular highlight being a rarely surfed right slab in the Playgrounds area. The guys had a dream bodyboard session full of kegs, hoots and only their mates to share it with.

Just as the trip had started we left the magical Mentawai Islands with an amazing sunset for our return crossing home.

Thanks for the coming guys and making such a great trip.
