Charter_ August 22 – September 2
The late August trip onboard Nomad brought a bunch of surfers together with all different standards and preferences as to what is “The Perfect Wave”. Thankfully a surf trip to Mentawai Islands has something for everyone.
Starting off the trip with mellow and clean glassy 3 foot waves allowed the guests to wash the cobwebs off and get their feet in the wax, then we set sail south with the swell building and hit some waves with a bit more power and scoring a memorable session at Greenbush for those keen. The wind was up for a few days and some playful right handers delivered some fun while the weather sorted itself out bunkered up in the Southern region of Mentawai Islands.
As we made our way back north Huey came good again – The wind faded away, the sun came out and the ground swell kept building right up to the last day. The magestic Telescopes was our target for the peak of the swell and she delivered some fun but it was what was waiting across the bay at perfect 10-12ft Icelands that really got the boy’s heat pumping. There was broken boards, snapped leggies and “biggest wave ever” calls going down keeping the adrenaline pumping.
The trip rounded off with prestine Mentawai conditions and waves for everyone, all onboard frothing and the sail home that afternoon said it all – perfect sunset, beers flowing, reflection and stoke on a great assault on the magic Mentawai Islands.
